It started with a simple sound, the rhythmic thwack of my mother’s knife against the chopping board and the hiss of the stovetop. In our Australian Lebanese home, the kitchen wasn’t just a room, it was the heartbeat of our lives.

I grew up watching how a simple meal could turn a quiet afternoon into a celebration. I saw how a shared plate of Kebbeh Nayeh or the passing of a shisha pipe could bridge gaps and strengthen bonds. I realised early on that food is more than fuel, it’s an invitation.
I wanted to bring that spirit of hospitality to Dural. I didn’t set out to open just another eatery; I wanted to build a home away from home. That is why I named us El Midan, which means “The Gathering Point.”

Located at 3 Allen Way, Dural NSW, we’ve created a space where the traditions of my heritage meet the warmth of our local community. Whether it’s the authentic stretch of our traditional Lebanese Bouza, our handmade Fruit Mocktails, or our unique, incredible Shisha, every detail is crafted to be shared.

To complement your meal, we are fully licensed and take great pride in our cellar. We’ve curated a quality range of wines and whiskies, featuring both local favourites and exceptional selections imported directly from Lebanon.

To be honest, the long hours in the kitchen don’t feel like work when I look out into the dining room. My greatest reward is seeing a table full of friends laughing over a feast, or a family sharing stories over dessert and a drink.
